WELCOME
Our Concerned Citizens for Justice was founded by Rep. Rickey Thompson, who serves as MS House of Representative for District 16 (Lee and Monroe Counties). Rep Thompson mission is helping bring justice to the black communities. Where there has been so much injustice. Rep. Thompson is working on increasing political involvement of community members, ensuring equitable power distribution, and improving the criminal justice system. Criminal justice reform includes a system where punishment is fair, and mental ill individuals are not unfairly prosecuted. This is accomplished through town hall meetings, rallies, public hearings, canvassing, and other convenings to empower and educate the black community of issues that affect daily lives.

Our Concerned Citizens for Justice donating to Gordon Community Cultural Center. This organization was created to preserve the Abbeville School (formally known as Abbeville Colored School) and the Gordon Elementary School buildings and to continue the excellent work of educating students that had been done in these buildings decades ago. These buildings were constructed during sanctioned segregation in Mississippi for Black students and closed when mandatory integration of public education was imposed in the latter part of the 1960’s. This organization is preserving history and providing continued academic learning to elementary school students during the summer/after school tutoring.

Saturday, October 22, 2022, the Historical Marker was unveiled recognizing Abbeville Colored School a Historic Landmark.

Joshua Montford (Son of our Board Secretary)
Joshua Montford attended Summer Day Camp for the month of June 2023 at Gordon Community Cultural Center, Abbeville, MS formerly known as Abbeville Colored School and Gordon Elementary School. Our Board Secretary April Scott noticed a sign for donations. She reached out to our CEO- Representative Rickey Thompson and President- Mrs. Shelia Thompson of Our Concerned Citizens for Justice, which donated 500.00 to the school for future education/ improvements. Our Concerned Citizens for Justice personally thanks the Director/ Board Member (Ms. Janice Carr) and the rest of the board members and teachers of Gordon Community Cultural Center, Abbeville, MS for teaching our children about their culture amongst other educational subjects.

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Moore Manor Apartments' residents was devastated by the tornados that ripped through Amory, MS.

The check was presented to Coach Cedric Brim and Principal Jason Arledge.
