An area parent presented a case where mental ill son was arrested for fines. At the time of his arrest, the son was experiencing a mental health episode and was later charged with assaulting an officer, who ineffectively managed the encounter. The parent hired an attorney, who mismanaged the case involving unpaid fines. The son suffered abuse while incarcerated, resulting in extreme weight loss and severe bruising. Our Concerned Citizens for Justice connected the parent with an attorney who was willing to help at a reduced rate. This resulted in the son being released from the county jail and moved to a mental health facility.

Our Concerned Citizens for Justice deal with several cases concerning students in the Lee / Monroe Counties schools that were arrested at school. Their parents weren't contacted. They were only contacted from the jail. the schools didn't follow proper discipline in either case. These students were emotionally affected by the horrific arrest, booking and jail time. The School District hasn't tried to solve these cases. Our Concerned Citizens are still seeking justice for the students and parents.

Our Concerned Citizens for Justice had a concerned parent with a young man incarcerated with terminally illness since his incarceration be admitted to ICU. The DOC and Warden fell to communicate with the parent about the young man's condition and treatment plan. Our Concerned Citizens for Justice reached out to the Warden, DOC and the Governor's Advocate to help this concerned parent. The parent has since gotten answers. Plus was able to visit the young man. We are still working on getting a compassionate release due to his terminal illness.
